The resignation of six Chafford primary school governors illustrated growing concerns about primary education in the borough while the senior schools continued to thrive as illustrated in the Gable Hall Arts showcase and the revolutionary production of A Midsummer Nights Dream by Gateway Academy.

The death of Basildon CVS Chief Mark Williams brought to light a series of tensions and controversies in Tilbury and beyond.

A busy summer of festivals began with the classic Horndon Feast and Fayre while Elvis starred at St Luke’s Hospice Fete.

UKIP were delighted with an impressive performance at the Euro Elections. Can they build on that in the General Election.

Finally, we filmed the incredibly talented singer Jane Young as she rehearsed for her concert supporting Cara Dillon at the Thameside.
