THE CHALLENGE was, in ninety minutes, how to make an opera!

The hall at Grays School and Media Arts College was a hive of activity and creativity as the Royal Opera team worked in partnership with the students to produce a series of three stories.

Divided into three groups: one to create a choral piece; one to create a play and another to create scenery, the students threw themselves into the task.

Once again, the Royal Opera’s work in the borough’s schools has been groundbreaking and is sure to pay dividends not only now but in years to come.

We will be running this film in three parts. Part One: The creative process. Part Two: Interview with Deputy Head Rachel D’Arcy and student Mark Pavitt. Part Three: The Operas.
