In the Essex Sunday League match against Benfleet on 30th May, Paul Bennett struck an outstanding 175 not out (20 fours and 5 sixes) from just 104 balls, to record the club’s third highest ever individual score.
You could see the main tent from twenty miles away on the M25 and the sounds boomed across the borough. The first ever Dance Crusade at Orsett Showground was a resounding success as clubbers from across the South East gathered together to dance to some of the top DJ’s in the country.
THURROCK Swimming Club were recently crowned Essex County Swimming Champions for the fourth year in succession and sixth time in seven years. This latest county success was somewhat sweeter than previous years, as this was the first victory under the exciting new regime and swimming programme of new Head Coach Lisa Bates.

May 27th was a full moon & if you look closely enough you may have see some of Thurrocks Witches flying passed on their broom sticks. Well actually I’m not really serious about the flying on brooms part, but I am very serious about Thurrock and infact all over England there being real witches & mediums in our midst. Scared!
THERE are many signs in Thurrock that education at a senior level has improved by light years over the last few years. There is a plethora of examples as well. Perhaps one of the great examples is the invitation that Grays school’s Maths Department gave to Year 7 parents to come in on a thursday evening and explore the world of maths as well as help their child’s education.
WE MET Gary a couple of months ago after he had a display of his poems at the Thameside Theatre. We then asked Gary if he would be happy to re-enact a poem once a month in a series of locations.
THE THURROCK Courts Players have just completed a three night run of the play Waiting For Godfrey. The performance has been a dry run for the group’s appearance at the Thurrock Drama Festival where they hope to win a place in the British Drama Festival.
