Jobs fair success at Aveley community centre

AVELEY Village Community Forum held its first ever Jobs & Careers Fair at the Aveley Youth & Community Centre.
Exhibitors included local colleges, trainers, employers and the Volunteer Centre who provided a wide range of options for attendees to consider. Over 30 people attended but the highlight of the day was the presentation of achievement awards to some of the young people who took part in our recent Jump Start course.
The 10 week course, which was joint funded by Aveley Village Community Forum and Thurrock Council, included work skills training, community work and personal development. Already 2 of the 7 participants have started full time work with another about to join the Army. With job applications going out and a new chance to go to college we see a new future for all who took part.
The three young people who received their awards at the Jobs Fair were (L-R) Bradley Hillyer, Emma Norman and Hayley Steers.
The Forum is planning to build on the success of both the Jump Start Course and the Jobs Fair with more events and programmes to help people to take that next step in life.
