ORMISTON Park Academy in Aveley, Essex wanted all their students to experience ‘Olympic fever’ and to be one of the schools experiencing full involvement of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Sports and PE were already strengths of the school, as was enterprise, therefore preparing their BTEC Dance group to incorporate Olympic fever was a doddle.
The group wowed an 800 strong audience last week at the Sparks Will Fly Olympic Festival held at Basildon. The girls performed two incredible dances, which included urban dance moves that linked to Olympic opening ceremony themes stemming from the Olympic and Paralympic games. .
The girls were performing as part of their coursework, which will help them gain excellent qualifications after a hard year of practicing together. Their next venture will be a performance at the Thameside Theatre in Grays for another Olympic Festival.
