Royal Opera House Education in Thurrock is running workshops this summer to create a unique installation which will premiere at the Orsett Show and then be on display in the stables at the High House Production Park.
The workshops are for anyone who is interested in creating digital art, learning more about sound or would like to get involved in creating a piece of artwork for the community.
There are three different workshops to choose from, suitable for different ages and interests. Two different week-long technical workshops will create a soundscape and short film pieces from audio and visual materials, vintage and new, including extracts of music from opera and ballet and other sounds such as water, speech and everyday sounds. These workshops are open to everyone aged 12 and above.
During the daily creative workshops, led by professional designers and artists, participants will create and source sets, props, costumes and other elements from different materials to produce an art installation to complement the soundscape. These workshops are open to everyone aged 7 and above.
Running from Monday 13 August until Friday 17 August, the workshops take place at the High House Production Park in Purfleet. All members of the community are welcome to take part in the workshops, no previous experience is necessary. Each workshop will be led by professional artists and creative practitioners. All children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
