Summer holiday activities abound in Thurrock

THIS summer a range of activities for young people are taking place in Thurrock.
These activities are run by public, private and voluntary organisations and aim to keep children and young people busy, have fun and learn new skills.
The Thurrock NACRO Sports Project is running a series of football sessions across Thurrock for young people (11 to19 years). The project will also be providing some disability sports sessions in conjunction with the Sunshine Centre Summer Play Scheme.
Staying with football, The Essex County Football Association, through its Get into Football Project, is running football sessions for under sixteen’s, including a Futsal League.
Chelsea will be running soccer schools in Chafford Hundred and Stanford Le Hope which will be open to ages three to15.
Over in Aveley, the Community Forum is running a summer programme throughout the six-week break. Age range is eight to 13 years and activities include bike maintenance, music workshops, bowling and outdoor games.
The Lakeside Schools Partnership has lots of exciting activities including biking, cooking, fencing and dancing. The sessions take place in local Primary Schools and the age range is five years plus.
For tennis enthusiasts, the Thurrock Lawn Tennis Club has a busy summer planned. Tennis Summer Schools are running from Monday, 23 July to Friday, 17 August and cater for a range of ages.
The Royal Opera House have organised a programme of creative workshops around arts, sound, film and drama. The workshops are titled Creating the Soundscape and Creating the Visual World.
Finally for budding actors, singers and dancers the Creative Blast Academy will be running a week long musical summer school. Youngsters will be involved in writing, staging, directing and choreographing a new musical. The summer school takes place from Monday, 23 to Friday, 27 July and is open to those aged six to 16 years.
