NORTH STIFFORD boxing referee Mik Basi has taken centre stage at the London Olympics in more ways than one.
The referee read the Olympic oath on behalf of officials and referees at Fridays opening ceremony.
The Oath states: “In the name of all the judges and officials, I promise that we shall officiate in these Olympic Games with complete impartiality, respecting and abiding by the rules which govern them in the true spirit of sportsmanship.”
Mik has also taken up his role at the centre of the ring at the Excel Arena as the Boxing got underway.
Basi first match was the middleweight clash between Armenian A Harkobyan and USA fighter A Gausha.
