Bat and Bar Mitzvah celebration
Date posted: 04-08-2012
THE CONGREGATION of Shenfield & Brentwood Synagogue got together to celebrate the joint Bar Mitzvah of Jamie Levy and Bat Mitzvah of Alice Radford. Around 200 people attended the service and Kiddush held at Brentwood County High School.
The service was led by Rabbi Danny Rich with an emotional address and presentation to the B’nei Mitzvah children delivered by Natasha Radford, Chair of the synagogue and Mum to Alice.
It was a wonderful occasion when the community came together with family and friends to help Jamie and Alice assume their roles and take the responsibility of young adults within the community.
Shenfield and Brentwood were formed two and a half years ago and have gone from strength to strength. They are a warm congregation, welcoming those in mixed faith relationships and traditional Jewish families equally.
With a large Cheder (Sunday school) adult education and excellent conversion programme the Synagogue have managed to strike a great balance between traditional Judaism and the requirements of the local community in respect of modern day living.
