Free dog training on offer

PICK up tips and freebies on responsible dog ownership in two free events in Purfleet and South Ockendon in August.

Free dog microchipping is available at both events organised by Thurrock Housing and Trading Standards teams.

The first is on the green near the Children’s Centre, River Lane, Garrison Estate, Purfleet on August 22nd from 11am to 2pm. The second is at the Flowers Estate, South Ockendon, on August 29th at the same time.

Dog experts from will be on hand to answer questions from owners including details about spaying which is free for some breeds. There will also be some free dog shows with categories for different prizes.

Val Morris-Cook, Portfolio Holder for Housing at Thurrock Council said: “Dogs bring huge pleasure to many people but key to successful dog ownership is responsibility. This includes having your dog microchipped and picking up after them. These events will help our residents enjoy their dogs even more.”

The events are free and owners can just turn up with their dogs.
