Hockey: Sold start for Thurrock

Saffron Walden 2 v 2 Thurrock

THIS was always going to be a tough first fixture, and tough it was with both teams fighting until the end.

Thurrock started the brighter with Christian Jenkins, Jak Taylor and Dec Milane all missing excellent chances but then Thurrock gave a sloppy short corner away which Saffron put past new boy Danny Hick.

Thurrock then hit back by converting there own short corner.

The second half both teams were tiring but with some slick passing from Christian, Steve Abbott and Jak Taylor, Thurrock managed to force a own goal.

But the team was tiring rapidly and Saffron got a late short corner and converted again.

The final score was 2 – 2.

Next week the 1s face Upminster at Palmer’s College.
