Paralympic gold medallist spends time with Beacon Hill students

STUDENTS from Beacon Hill Academy were lucky enough to enjoy trips to the Paralympics.
Groups visited the park in Stratford where they saw athletics, goalball, wheelchair basketball and tennis.
Another group visited the Excel centre and saw Boccia, sitting volleyball, fencing and weightlifting. They were particularly thrilled to meet Brazilian fencing gold medallist Jovane Silva Guissone.
All the students were extremely excited about their visits and have come back wanting to explore further opportunities for participation in disability sport both within school and with outside organisations. This was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the success and skill of people who have disabilities
Discussions are already beginning with the council about creating new opportunities to “Inspire a Generation” and develop the legacy from the wonderful Olympics and Paralympics that the students were able to enjoy.
