HORNDON resident and economics guru, Andrew Sentance was decorated with a CBE in the new year and there is now speculation that he may be the next governor of the Bank of England.
Mr Sentance was speaking to Paul Lewis on Radio 4′s Money Box on Saturday afternoon.
He was discussing monetary pressures and inflation. He surmised that inflation may rise due to a number of factors such as drought in the USA.
He said: “The price of many services that we buy has been consistently over 3%.”
Mr Sentance rebuffed the virtues of quantitative easing (printing money) as he felt it “aggravates the situation.”
At the end of the interview, he was asked if he would be applying for the post of governor of the Bank of England.
Mr Sentance said: “I’m not sure about that. The application hasn’t closed yet.”
Paul Lewis took that as a “Definite Maybe”.
