Friday (September 21st) saw some of the borough’s unsung heroes be officially recognised by the Mayor of Thurrock.

“Story Lab” saw a total of 26 volunteers working tirelessly, with a total number of 377 hours offered where they shared their passion and enthusiasm for reading with children of all ages.
Cllr Yash Gupta, the Mayor of Thurrock, said: “The effort put in by these volunteers is inspiring and I am full of admiration for what they have achieved.
“How many times do we hear that the younger generation could not care less?
“These individuals are a good example of the decent and hardworking people that we have in Thurrock and their efforts deserve to be recognised”.
Any young adults (between 14-16) interested in taking part in next year’s Summer Reading Challenge should call Rachel Gallehawk on 01375 413970 to find out more.
