Tilbury 1 v 1 AFC Sudbury 1
Tilbury and AFC Sudbury shared the goals in a scrappy second half encounter. Tilbury made one change from last weeks draw at Soham with Paul King returning in place of Ben Crooks. Tom Wraight also returned to the squad following injury.
It was a game of two halves with Tilbury taking the first half and Sudbury looking the likely winners in the second. The visitors should have been in front in the first few minutes when Charge latched on to a mistake in the home defence and put wide. A minute later Tilbury had an effort from Martin Llewellyn who put wide following a deflected effort. After 15 the visitors had a good effort from Jacob Brown well saved by Danny Smith on the line with a flying effort.
After some pressure from Sudbury, Tilbury took the lead when Gary Henty played the ball to Llewellyn, who played the ball to Emiel Aiken, who unleashed a low strike at goal from 25 yards that went into the bottom corner passed the unsighted Howe.
The Dockers finished the half the dominating side with a succession of corners.
Sudbury came out the stronger side in the second half and were back on level terms on 55 when ex Docker Tom Webb collecting the ball on the left and shooting left footed into the far corner passed James Marrable. Both Aiken and Llewellyn had chances to score before the hour but there efforts went wide.
Tilbury allowed Sudbury to dominate and were camped in there own half for long periods without much goal action. Webb and Antione also had efforts well saved by Marrable before the last effort of the game fell to Aiken who was played in and was denied by a last ditch save from Howe.
After the game assistant Manager Dave Ross said “Feel like we have dropped 2 points today, we looked in control, but it was a below bar performance second half. We are drawing too many games at present”
Tilbury are next back in action on Tuesday when they welcome Witham Town 7.45pm, before a long trip to Wroxham next Saturday.
