Dog owners can pick up tips and freebies on responsible dog ownership in two free events in South Ockendon and Chadwell St Mary.

The first event will take place on 24 October on The Green, on the corner of Afton Drive and Broxburn Drive from 11am to 2pm.

The second will be on the car park behind the high rise flats in Chadwell St Mary on 1st November from 10am to 2pm.

Free microchipping will be available at both events organised by Thurrock Housing and Trading Standards teams and donated by the Dogs Trust.

Dog experts will be on hand to answer questions from owners including details about spaying which is free for some breeds.  There will also be some dog shows with prizes for different categories.

All the activities are free and owners can just turn up with their dogs.

For more information please contact the South Ockendon Local Housing Office on 01375 413800 or Chadwell Local Housing Office on 01375 413810.

  1. As a dog owner I second what rocket1 has said, it really annoys me that people do not pick up after their dogs or even go to the trouble of bagging it but then to throw the bag on the floor or in the nearest bush.

More prosecutions need to be made against these inconsiderate owners.

  2. as more dog owners are clearing up after there dogs the council have got to step up their game and start empting the red bins more often

  3. The dog owner in the photo would like to stress that she always picks up her little dog’s poo.

Sally Casey said: “If Lambo paid attention he would see in the photo that there is a dog poo holder on the lead….”

    That’s Lambo told then!!
