A PACKED AUDIENCE at the Thameside Theatre was entranced by a fascinating two hour q and a with the legendary politician, Tony Benn.
The 87-year-old politician spent the first part of the evening, reflecting on his life and the people he had met and the events he had influence upon.
The second half was a q and a session. The audience asked questions on a variety of subjects from Mr Benn’s opinion on “Why Margaret Thatcher was so popular?” His answer was: “She said what she meant and she meant what she said.” to the Leveson Inquiry: “We should not be in a situation, where one man owns so much of the media.”
One twist was that after Thurrock councillor, Victoria Holloway asked a question on the Suffragettes, a man in front of her told Mr Benn that his great-great aunt was, Emily Wilding Davidson, who died after being struck by the king’s horse in 1913.
Afterwards, Mr Benn signed copies of his autobiography and spent time chatting to members of the audience.
