Tilbury 0 Thamesmead Town 1 Att 63
TILBURY suffered a third consecutive league defeat against a hardworking Thamesmead Town side on Saturday. Paul Vaughan made four changes from last weeks defeat at Heybridge Swifts. Aaron Waters, Paul King, Emiel Aiken and Steve Good returned to the side.
On a cold afternoon and facing a heavy pitch and biting wind, Tilbury started strongly. A dangerous effort from skipper Henty was cleared for a corner. Thamesmead took the lead on 21 when Hudson sent a ball across the box to Enoch Adjei who shot under Marrable into the net. Tilbury conceded a number of free kicks which effected the flow of the game. On 34 a direct corner kick from Aaron Waters was well saved by David Hogan in the visitors goal as he tipped over. On 37 Tilbury had a good shout for a penalty when Stanley was pulled back but the referee waved away any protests. On the break both Steve Good and James Marrable had to be at there best after blocks on the line.
Early in the 2nd half Wraight shot over before Hudson was left in space only to fire over. Seconds later Danny Smith curled a free kick over from 25 yards. In the 83rd minute Sherwin Stanley was denied twice by Hogan, who blocked his attempts. Deep into injury time Tom Wraight fired over. In a game that Tilbury pushed hard for an equaliser, but were denied by some stout defending by Thamesmead.
Tilbury look to get back to winning ways on Tuesday when they welcome Basildon United to Chadfields in the Essex Senior Cup 3rd round tie. 7.45pm kick off.
