Free two hour football holiday sessions
Date posted: 29-10-2012
STUCK for ideas on how to keep the kids occupied during half term? Free, two-hour holiday sessions are being organised by FA Tesco Skills Coaches in Thurrock on Wednesday 31st October at St Clere’s School so boys and girls aged 5-11 can enjoy a football-filled break from school.
The Skills Team will be at Butts Lane in Stanford-le-Hope all day and school years one to three will be welcome in the morning from 10:00am to 12:00pm. An afternoon is then planned for years four to six from 1:00 to 3:00pm. Spaces are limited, so early booking to play a part in the ‘Skills Revolution’ is advised to avoid disappointment.
FA Tesco Skills aims to give youngsters the chance to get active and have fun while improving their football technique. The three-year programme has now been extended until 2014 and is co-ordinated by The FA and funded by Tesco and the National Sports Foundation. A total of 106 full time specialist Skills Coaches are focusing on raising technical standards among the 5-11 age groups, when ball skills are ingrained, throughout 26 counties in England.
Essex currently have six of those, headed by Kalam Mooniaruck. The Skills Coaches are fully qualified and have completed an FA age-appropriate skills coaching course. They organise sessions in schools and clubs as well as after-school and holiday skills centres, so youngsters can be inspired to get active and maximise their ability, whatever their level.
