Barn fire in Aveley near to high voltage cables

FIRE CREWS tackled a fire in a barn used to store machinery.
The officer in charge reported that on attendance that the barn measures 20m by 20m were well alight.
Update 21:10hrs: Crews have confirmed that acetylene cylinders are involved in the fire and a hazard zone has been established.
Firefighters faced difficulty in tackling the fire because it is underneath high voltage cables. The electricity board were on scene and worked to isolate the cables.
Update 22:00hrs: Firefighters used one main jet and one hose reel jet to tackle the fire. Poor water supply hampered firefighters in their efforts and a water shuttle – in which fire engines take it in turns to leave the site to replenish their water tanks – had been established.
The fire involves a container holding acetylene and LPG cylinders.
Update 23:00hrs: Firefighting operations continue at this incident.
Update 07:15hrs Wednesday: The fire has been extinguished but crews remain on site cooling a cylinder which was involved in the fire.
