Tilbury woman fined over loud music
Date posted: 31-10-2012
A TILBURY woman has been fined and ordered to pay costs totalling over£1,000 for breaching a noise abatement notice.
Raquel Docking, 20, of Tasmania House, Hobart Road, failed to appear before magistrates at Basildon on Monday (October 29) and was convicted in her absence.
Magistrates heard Docking had failed to control the volume of loud music from her property, contrary to the requirements of a noise abatement notice.
On the night of 13 July this year out of hours officers from Thurrock Council’s Environmental Protection team had witnessed amplified music from the third floor flat; noise that amounted to a statutory nuisance.
The music was played at such a volume that it was clearly audible in Hobart Road and extremely anti social to neighbouring residents.
She was fined £600 and ordered to pay £924 in costs.
The council’s out of hours noise service runs on Friday and Saturday nights between 9pm and 3pm on 07788 200200, and outside of those hours, complaints can be made to the Environmental Protection Team by calling 01375 652955.
