STUDENTS from ‘Building Futures’, an alternative education provider based at the Gateway Academy, recently took pride in receiving their end of year examination results with 100% success.
Building Futures has seen the students engage in Life Skills and Construction alongside their English (Entry Level 1) and Maths (Entry Level 1 and 2). The programme helps those students who are at risk of being permanently excluded from mainstream education and assists them in gaining skills to take forward into life after the age of 16.
Andrea McCann, course facilitator, said “I am so proud of the students who have gained their qualifications. It just proves that this type of education is often needed to enable them to acquire some much needed life skills that they can utilize in later life, but it also ensured that they gained their English and Maths qualifications as well.”
The students were delighted to present to the Head of School, Miss Grainne McLaughlin, a montage of their own work, fully framed, as a token of their thanks for never giving up on them (see pictured with Andrea McCann & Yasmin Sandford from the Building Futures team).
