New Thurrock grammar school will have “admissions criteria for disadvantaged”

Thurrock Grammar

PLANS for a new grammar school in Thurrock are well underway says the portfolio holder for education.

Cllr James Halden was responding to a question in the council chamber from fellow Tory, cllr Aaron Watkins.

Cllr Halden was keen to stress that the new school would have an “admissions criteria slanted towards disadvantaged pupils”.

Research has shown that 55 grammar schools including a number in Essex, have a provision in place.
