EIGHT brand new ride-on mowers have been delivered to Thurrock Council in time for grass cutting in parks and open spaces over the summer.
As part of the council’s clean it, cut it, fill it initiative, Cabinet agreed in March 2017 to purchase eight new ride-on mowers to replace seven old ones.
Cllr Aaron Watkins, Portfolio Holder for Environment, said: “We want people from all over Thurrock and beyond to enjoy our beautiful parks the borough has to offer.
“Residents and visitors to Thurrock’s green spaces will benefit from the improved reliability and efficiency of these machines, they will be used to cut a variety of grass areas across the borough, as well as ensuring the parks cutting schedule is kept to every three weeks.
“This is part of a £7.15 million vehicle and plant improvement programme agreed at the council’s budget setting in February, which also includes investment in new bin lorries. This capital investment is helping to deliver on clean it, cut it, fill it.
“They will be spending less time being repaired and more time out making our parks and green spaces enjoyable for residents.”
