GIFFARDS Primary School recently held their own Race for Life to raise money for Cancer Research.
On the 19th October the afternoon saw all the pupils at the primary school running around the school field with the aim to cover the distance from Giffards Primary and
moving through France, Holland, Belguim and finishing off in Germany. This required a total of 1600 laps. The race was started by former student and
GB Athlete Hayley McLean who also presented the medals to each of the students who took part.
All the children enjoyed themselves whilst running around and Heart Radio gave them all a mention to spur them on during the event, which was
brilliant. The children ran in total over a staggering 4000 laps, which equates to over 800 miles – an amazing feat!
The children didn’t just stop with their impressive running, they have also managed to raise £4139 so far for the worthy charity. A big
thank you to the children for their amazing efforts as well as all of the staff and sponsors who were happy to donate and raise such a large amount, it is much
appreciated by everyone.
