STAFF and students found time to talk recently, as part of a Nationwide mental health initiative named Time to Talk Day. Both pledged to carry out specific tasks that relate to improving their mental health and that of others. Students were asked to complete a survey and the data will be used to help structure a mental health development plan.
Lead Inclusion Specialist and trained mental health nurse, Miss Gemma Fitzgerald, said “It was a great day for our students and our staff to talk about mental health and feel the support from each other. As a result of the day, a number of students have put themselves forward to become Mental Health Champions for the Gateway Academy.
“I am very proud that the sessions were a benefit to many and look forward to organising some regular wellbeing sessions in the future.”
