THE Gateway Learning Community (GLC) recently hosted a special dinner for Senior Citizens living within the local community.
101 happy diners attended and enjoyed a hearty meal, followed by bingo and a raffle. The event is the ninth that the Gateway Academy have hosted at their Marshfoot Road site. Students helped deliver meals and keep the visitors happy, followed by some fun photographs after dinner with their Instagram frame and props.
The event is always well supported, with Thomas Ridley Foodservice donating two cases of table gift wines and Tesco who donated £100 towards food and drink. The event raised £587 which will be donated to Age UK.
CEO of the GLC, Mr Kevin Sadler, said “These events don’t happen by chance and are a result of meticulous planning and commitment by all those involved. I would like to thank all those that make this event happen every year.
“I think that sometimes we are not always aware of how lonely old-age can be and for some members of our community, this event is much anticipated and remembered for a long time. I look forward to our 10th event next year!”
