SAULE Piliponyte, a student at Hathaway Academy, has won the prestigious Royal Opera House Design Challenge in the Set Design category.
Saule Piliponyte, a Year 10 student at Hathaway Academy, was the winner in the Set Design category of this year’s prestigious Royal Opera House Design Challenge. She designed an exciting and imaginative set for Stauss’ opera Salome. Hathaway Academy was one of just six schools which piloted Design Challenge for Secondary schools this year. The competition will be available to all secondary schools in 2018/19 and students will design following either the costume or set design pathway.
‘The Royal Opera House’s prestigious Design Challenge has been open to FE colleges and Sixth forms for 6 years and invites talented young designers to enter into the enriching world of set design, costume, make up and marketing. The Design Challenge strands for Secondary and Primary are both new this year, being piloted exclusively in Thurrock schools.
