ON Tuesday 4th September 2018 at the “Old Regent Ballroom”, in Stanford Le Hope, St Luke’s Hospice, in partnership with other prominent organisations in the Basildon and Thurrock area, held a Premiere of their film titled “Your Life, Your Choice, Your Plan, Let’s talk”.
St Luke’s Hospice Wellbeing and Information Facilitator, Penny Meadows said; “The Dying Matters campaign this year aims to encourage the nation to take five crucial actions in order to be ready for someone’s end of life wishes. The message is that by focusing on five things you can do today it will make life easier for your family and loved ones when you die. No one likes to think about their own mortality, much less discuss it. So we are hoping that by raising awareness of these five practical steps, we can all discuss the matter while we are still in good health, as this will help alleviate problems that could occur later’’
The five steps are:
1) Make a Will
2) Record your funeral wishes
3) Plan your future care and support
4) Register as an organ donor
5) Tell your loved ones your wishes
The short film shows a diverse group of people, talking about their own bucket lists, memoires and things they may wish to happen at their own funeral
Copies of the film are available for public use at a nominal cost. For more information please contact Penny Meadows on 01375 648170 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
