MARK Stimson’s Thurrock had their first work out of the season as they were defeated 2-1 by a West Ham United X1 at Ship Lane.
First chance of the game came from Freddie Piquionne who leapt above the Thurrock defence but his header went over.
Thurrock, full of youngsters started steadily with both son of manager, Mark Stimson and Stuart Thurgood shooting from thirty yards.
The deadlock was broken in the 21st minute when Dom Vose broke free on the left and passed square to Kieran Sadlier who side footed it from close range.
This Hammers outfit seemed a lot more proactive than the one last night, even though some had played at Rush Green.

But from nowhere, Thurrock equalised in the 34th minute when Hassan Ibrahim’s speculative shot sailed over the keeper.
French international Frederick Piquionne picked up the ball from the half way line, grazed past the Thurrock defence but his shot sailed into the car park.
A glancing header by Charlie Stimson opened the curtain on the second half.
West Ham restored the lead in the 56th minute when Kieran Sadlier, put through by Blair Turgot slid the ball past David Hughes.
Charisma free Eoin Wearen came on as he did the previous night against Grays Ath and like last night spent his time lunging into players.
Thurrock should have equalised in the 84th minute after Daniel Okah found himself free at the far post but his header went wide.
