Chafford Hundred WI: June report

Yet another busy month for the ladies of Chafford Hundred WI. Our June meeting was chaired by President, Janet King, who welcomed 29 Members and three visitors. The evening was spent indulging in a rather “naughty but nice” cream tea served by the members of our Committee. To maintain the momentum of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Lynne Howe provided a quiz based on questions about the Royal Family and our resident brain of Britain, Madeleine Kittle, proved to be the clear winner.

Chafford Hundred WI: May report

Andrea gave a very interesting talk and demonstration on the planting and care of summer hanging baskets and told us how she had first discovered her love of gardening at a very young age spending most of her time down in the greenhouse with her father. Andrea now runs her own small business and told us how it all started 20 years ago when she was asked by a relative to prepare some hanging baskets for a wedding.

Diversity day set for Chafford church

Building on the success of the diversity day in 2010, where people from so many diverse background were bought together to explore unfamiliar territory and celebrate common ground, the 16th of June will see the second diversity day which will be bigger and more challenging than the first.
