HORNDON resident and economics guru, Andrew Sentance has been made a Commander of the British Empire in the Queen’s New year honours list.
Cambridge-educated Mr Sentance came to prominence through his work at the Bank of England where he became known a “the arch hawk” on the Bank of England’s monetary policy committee reports the FT.
Mindless vandalism such as this is always annoying but the trail of insurance forms, diocesan forms and finding the right time to effect a repair, is always time consuming. Also on the agenda for repair, at the same time, was the West Door, which had rotted at the bottom and was letting in water. Both repairs would need funding and gave their Parochial Church Council (PCC) concerns as to how this would happen.
The organisers of this annual event must have a deal with the weather gods because, yet again, wonderful weather heralded the start of the Horndon Feast and Fayre. Smith, 52, who resides in Mill Lane, Horndon-on-the-Hill, joined the London Fire Brigade in 1981 and was later appointed as London Fire Brigade Deputy Assistant Commissioner in 2001. He received the award after risking his 30 years service to save others.

THE PEOPLE of Horndon-on-the-Hill took to the park at the Recreation Ground to celebrate the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere as the weather stayed fine.
Event starts outside from 10 AM till 5 PM, and a disco from 6 till late inside the club. The event includes the Partyman World bouncy castles, £6 pound for a wristband for unlimited use, and the famous Bam Bam entertainer will be there all day. He will also be doing a one hour show.

Once again the event was blessed with glorious sunshine and crowds flocked to the village to enjoy a host of entertainment and, in line with the ‘Food Glorious Food’ theme, food markets on both days. A record entry of runners took part in the Horndon 10k run on Sunday.
The annual Feast and Fayre in Horndon-on-the-Hill will again take place on the last weekend of June (26th & 27th).
A party of 42 adults and children, led by their President Jean-Michel Rault-Thiebaud, travelled by coach and ferry on the weekend of 22/23 May from Horndon’s twinned Brittany village of Romagné.
