The evening costs £49 per person and includes a three course meal and half a bottle of wine, as well as the murder mystery. There is also the option to stay in the hotel overnight and have breakfast for £199, based on two people sharing a double room.
Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “The man who we believe to be in his 50s sustained a back injury during the fall. Paramedics treated the man and gave him pain relieving drugs to ease the pain whilst they removed him with the help of the fire service from the fourth floor of the windmill.”
The Thatched Cottage, in Baker Street, Orsett, is being turned into a festive wonderland for an exciting Christmas Fayre, which will be taking place next weekend. THURROCK Museum have put together a series of picture postcards to showcase and chronicle the history of Orsett.
It is a fascinating glimpse into the past. As you go through the postcards, Orsett looks the same but it is the little things that are not there anymore.
Subjects raised included the pilot scheme for some councillors to spend £2,000 in their wards and funding for community forums; air quality across Thurrock; the council’s stance on a third Thames crossing, particularly the “Option C” route through Thurrock Green Belt and villages; refuse collections; how complaints to the council are handled; the future of a community hospital in Grays; sports facilities; educational attainment; and the question of “east-facing slip roads” to and from Lakeside from the A13.
THE THURROCK Council roadshow moves on to Orsett tonight where it is anticipated that a host of key issues will be discussed.
The roadshow consists of council leaders (led by cllr John Kent and chief exec Graham Farrant) taking questions from the floor on matters that concern local residents.
The news could be a bitter blow to Basildon South and East Thurrock MP, Stephen Metcalfe, who will have a fight on his hand to retain the seat having lost a swathe of blue voters. Mr Metcalfe won the seat last year with a majority of 5,772 however it is estimated that around 1200-1500 votes came from the Orsett area alone.
THURROCK Marching Brass have gone from strength to strength as they have re-emerged from a long hiatus last year.
They are such a dedicated group, travelling the country, training three nights a week and in general providing the young people with a great opportunity to participate in a great past-time.

A BARMAN was in hospital last night after what appears to be a bizarre accident behind the bar at the Orsett Show.The incident occured around 8pm last night as staff from the stalls mingled on the eve of the show.

Colonel Richard Graham will be there as part of a fundraising campaign on behalf of the Vulcan Restoration Trust at Orsett Hall. Col Graham flew the Mach 3 SR-71 ‘Blackbird’ as well as the F-4 Phantom during the Vietnam War, the KC-135 Stratotanker and the famous U-2 spy plane.
THURROCK residents living living in rural areas are set to benefit from faster internet speeds after the government allocated £362m to improve broadband connections in England and Scotland. The culture secretary, Jeremy Hunt, said on Tuesday that the fund would ensure that 90% of hard-to-reach communities with “painfully slow” internet speeds could have access to superfast broadband by 2015.

urs later, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service issued a warning to motorists to take extra care when driving on roads close to the Recycling in Orsett-wood yard fire.
Due to the wind direction today blanket smoke was seen to be pouring onto the A13, A128 and Stanford Road. The fire service has advised drivers to drive slowly and safely as they drive through smoke on roads in that area.
Peter Alexander, Director of RIO, was determined the company would recover from this recent set back saying: “We have been operating at the RIO site for the last three years and have had the wood reprocessing business running very well for the last 18 months. The fire will set us back for a while until we can get the clean-up done, but then we can resume our part in supporting the country’s most advanced renewable energy facility.
Crews have had a problem with children sneaking onto the site and there are fears that a child could be badly hurt. So far a number of youngsters have entered the site and have been seen walking in the wood pile. Firefighters are urging parents to make sure that their children do not enter the site.
