Dave (65) is working on his final job at the Thurrock hospital grounds in Long Lane, Grays but has many happy memories since he started with the firm back on August 6th, 1964.

A LOCAL building firm will be providing a helping hand for the Macmillan Cancer Support ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ on Friday 27 September. The South Ockendon Centre in Derry Avenue is hosting a coffee morning with a twist as local builders HW Wilson – the firm which carried out the refurbishment of the centre earlier this year – have volunteered to serve the drinks and homemade cakes to everyone who comes along on the day.
The Thurrock Low Carbon Business Programme has assisted HW Wilson with a grant to the tune of £972 for a new boiler; the Wharf Group (KS Timber) with £1,632 for a diesel particulate filter fitted to one of their lorries; and £1257.06 for the Your Style Salon, for new heaters and double glazing.
THE AWARD for Best in Customer Service” at the Thurrock Business Awards went to South Ockendon-based HW Wilson. At a gala evening at the Civic Hall in Grays, the company was recognised not only for its ability and standards as a building company but for the “warmth, professionalism and integrity of its service from beginning to end.”
