Footasylum heads for intu Lakeside

AS the £9 million Food Court refurbishment at intu Lakeside nears completion, designer footwear and clothing store Footasylum has joined the centre, with L’Occitane and Hugo Boss relocating and signing new leases. Footasylum has opened next to lolaandgrace on level two, L’Occitane has moved to a new location opposite the Champagne bar and Hugo Boss will re-open in its new level two location later this month.

Grays Street Festival set for this weekend

intu Lakeside and Ikea launch competition to bring children’s dreams to life

Elephants for sale as part of intu Lakeside auction

THE tour, presented at intu venues around the UK – including intu Lakeside from 5th May to 1st June 2014 – has been a first in so many ways, with a mission to raise lasting awareness through art of the future of the Asian elephant. More than 8,000 people have submitted design ideas, 75 schools have created half sized elephants that have joined the tour, a digital show reel has taken the art online and many people have taken part in live painting workshops with UK tour artists. The exposition has justifiably been referred to many times as ‘the people’s parade,’ having connected directly with many millions of people.

AMID positive news today from the Office of National Statistics showing that unemployment has fallen across the UK, intu has released a report which show its centres’ employment figures and economic contribution. intu’s Economic Contribution Report, conducted by Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners, reveals that intu Lakeside is one of the region’s biggest employers, delivering 6,249 jobs, accounting for 9% of the region’s total employment.

Student night coming at intu Lakeside

INTU Lakeside is once again making shopping more accessible for students by inviting them to enjoy big discounts and free entertainment at its second Student Night. Elephants are heading for Lakeside!

Intu Lakeside gets green light for multi-million leisure development

THE public spaces will host an exciting events programme which may include farmers’ and Christmas markets, street theatre, music shows and live screenings of big sporting events throughout the year. The spaces can also be used to host some of intu’s events which have a strong point of difference to those you may find at other shopping centres, such as Everyone’s Invited which works with the local community to showcase talents within the arts.

Intu Lakeside bosses delighted as profits double

INTU, which owns the Lakeside shopping centre in Thurrock, has more than doubled pre-tax profit following a year when it “advanced significantly”.
Intu posted a pre-tax profit of £362.9m for the year to 31 December 2013 – up from £152.6m a year earlier. The rise followed a revaluation of its estate.

Star David Walliams reads to intu Lakeside youngsters

THE UK’s number one children’s author, David Walliams, visited Thurrock last week for an exclusive storytelling session with members of the intu Lakeside kids club. Reading from his bestselling children’s books Ratburger, Demon Dentist and The Slightly Annoying Elephant, David’s visit marked the launch of the shopping centre’s charity partnership with the National Literacy Trust.

Intu Lakeside reveal The Orange Bus

ORIGINALLY designed as a one-month venture to coincide with the introduction of the shopping centre’s new intu brand (which features the same shade of bright orange), the bus proved to be so popular with people in the local area that intu Lakeside made the decision to keep it on the road for much longer. Its ownership was also kept a mystery until now so it could continue to serve as a fun conversation starter rather than becoming part of the centre’s wider advertising strategy.

Baby girl born at Intu Lakeside!

intu Lakeside’s youngest ever shopper was born yesterday when her mother went into labour in the shopping centre and gave birth at approximately 5pm on a cordoned off section of the mall. While waiting for an ambulance to arrive, baby Deborah was born with the support of intu Lakeside security officer Maggie Webb and the team, before being taken to hospital for a full check-up.

Gold rush at Lakeside for lucky shoppers

IN order to tackle the problem, over the next 8 to 10 weeks bin crews and Council officers will be carrying out more random bin checks. Where contaminated recycling is discovered, the bin will not be emptied but an advisory hanger placed on it to remind people of what they can and cannot recycle.

Lakeside has Christmas all wrapped up

Intu Lakeside launch their #Twishlist

DURING the first two weeks of December, and in no more than 140 characters, intu shoppers will be asked to take to Twitter and reveal, using #Twishlist, what they would most like to receive on the 25th December, via @intuLakeside. Their Christmas Twishlist can include gifts that are available at intu shopping centres across any category (including travel, fashion, beauty, garden, home and technology), online at intu.co.uk and can include Twishes for friends and family too.

Operation Christmas Presence launched at Lakeside

ESSEX Police and intu Lakeside are once again working together to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience is had by all that visit the centre in the run up to Christmas. Operation Christmas Presence launched today and will see extra officers working closely with the intu Lakeside security team on patrols at key times of the day to deter anyone intent on committing crime and ensure that criminals do not visit the area during the busy shopping period.
