Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using three jets to tackle a fire in a large shed measuring 5m x 4m in the back garden of a house in Sabina Road, Chadwell St Mary. They are using a ground monitor to cool an LPG cylinder inside.
FIRE crews were called to a derelict thatched cottage on fire in Cooper Shaw Road, West Tilbury The property measures 30 x 15 metres and crews reported it is well alight. Firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish the fire.
At 09:02 hrs, the officer in charge reports that the incident involves a diesel power digger inside an open cargo hold. The fire appears to be out but firefighters are standing by awaiting removal of the digger. The crew of the vessel has been removed to a place of safety.
A CORRINGHAM pensioners life was saved after a smoke alarm signalled her cooker was on fire.
The incident happened at just after midday on Sunday in Fobbing Road, Corringham Firefighters were called to a fire in the kitchen and reports that the cooker was on fire. The fire was out on arrival before the fire crews arrived.

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a road traffic collision in Chafford Hundred after a car went through a garden wall and severed a gas pipe. No one was trapped or injured as a result of the collision in Edmund Road and the gas supply had been isolated before crews arrived.

FIVE CARS were set alight in a fire in a scrapyard in Tilbury this morning. Fire crews were called out at 1.30 am this morning (Monday) to Hume Avenue, Tilbury.
On arrival at the scene, crews reported smoke coming from a ground floor flat but no sign of fire. They were able to raise the occupant of the flat involved who confirmed cooking had been left unattended. The woman, believed to be in her 60s, was suffering mild smoke inhalation and an Ambulance crew was called to the scene.
At 21:17 hrs, crews report steady progress is being made. An industrial digger is being used to help firefighters uncover the seat of the fire. Four appliances, an aerial ladder platform and a hose layer were sent to the scene as part of ECFRS’ pre-
determined attendance for incidents at the Docks.
Station Officer Geoff Wheal from Corringham Fire Station said: “The car appears to have left the roadway after sliding on a patch of ice. The car had rolled on its side into a garden and the 18 year old driver was trapped.
A WOMAN was trapped in her vehicle last night after a road traffic collision at the BP petrol station on the A13, near to the Orsett Cock roundabout. The incident occurred during rush-hour, around 5.30pm.
FIRE CREWS were called to assist in the rescue of a large, 30-year-old horse in Well Lane, North Stifford. The animal had keeled over at the bottom of its owners’ garden and was unable to get up.

DOZENS of residents were led to safety from a homeless hostel in Grays after a fire broke out. The fire took place at the Charles Street hostel in Charles Street at just after 4pm.

Station Officer Phil Pidgeon said: “The owner had taken the hawk out for a fly in the park and the wind had taken it into the tree where its strap became tangled round a branch leaving the bird hanging upside down.
GRAYS fire crews were repeatedly called out to deal with small deliberate fires in one road in Grays last night.
Crews were first called at 21:40 and then called out six more times throughout the night in Seabrook Rise at 21:54, 22:15, 22:32, 22:34, 22:36 and 06:19 Monday morning.
“The common theme is the bin and aerosol cans – it may be a quick thrill when they go bang but if they explode in someone’s face there could be a nasty injury to the young people involved of the firefighters called to deal with them. We even had one this weekend in a dog litter bin.
Ambulance crews were on the scene and police called for traffic control and to investigate the incident. Assistant Divisional Officer Tony Clark said: “The appliance involved is a party bus in service as a limousine and has no association with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.”
Fire crews were alerted after thick black smoke was seen over the area of Grange Farm. Two appliances were sent to the scene, but at 23:00 hrs, the officer in charge requested an additional applies for water supplies. Firefighters reported that the blaze involved a derelict caravan, tyres and an area of scrubland of around 10 metres, which were well alight.
