THE MANORWAY in Corringham was closed for an hour this afternoon after an HGV container had spilt an unknown liquid on the roadway. At 14:25hrs: The road has been closed and fire crews are establishing what the unknown liquid is.
CREWS were called to assist at the scene of a road traffic collision involving three vehicles, including an HGV on the A13 neqr the Stifford turn-off. The incident occurred at just before 1pm.
One man aged 62 years suffered from smoke inhalation and crews administered oxygen therapy. The man was placed in the care of the ambulance service.
Accident at 0730 hrs: Ship Lane in Aveley closed in both directions between West Thurrock and the Hall Road junction, because of an accident involving a horse-box. Further details to come.

Update: An investigation has found that the leak is small and poses no real danger to the docks or surroundings and at 12:26hrs crews handed the scene of the incident back to the site owners who will arrange to have the valve repaired.
POLICE have blocked off a large portion of the Fort Road area of Tilbury after a report of a methane gas leak. Port of Tilbury police were alerted to the leak at just after 9am this morning (Tuesday).

Firefighters were called to a fire in a house in Stanford-le-Hope. The call came just after 1pm on Monday afternoon. The fire was in the lounge area and crews wore two sets of breathing apparatus and used two hose reels to extinguish the fire by 13:40hrs.
Meanwhile other members of the fire crew were dealing with the man aged 37 years old who was suffering smoke inhalation and the rest of the family who were suffering from shock, including the wife and three children aged seven and five, and a one year old. The first floor of the house has been badly damaged by the fire and the smoke, and as a result the family have been made temporarily homeless.
A WOMAN had to be cut from a vehicle after a road traffic collision outside Gable Hall school yesterday afternoon. Firefighters had been called to a road traffic collision involving a bus and a motor vehicle on Southend Road, Corringham. One woman was trapped in the motor vehicle as crews worked to extricate the casualty.
While crews were working at the scene a woman, aged around 50, collapsed. She was given first aid by crews and an ambulance was called for her. The woman died at the scene. It is unknown at this time if the woman had sustained any injuries as a result of the fire. A full investigation will be carried out involving both the fire and police services.
Firefighters released a a woman trapped following an road traffic collision involving a car and a van. Using two sets of hydraulic cutting equipment, crews had released the woman by 1pm. The collision occured on London Road near to the Old Shant Pub.
AN URBAN SEARCH and rescue (USAR) team had to be called to a flat in Grays to assist with the removal of a thirty-stone man. Ambulance crews had attended at Russet House in Falcon Avenue, Grays on Saturday afternoon to take the 53-year-old morbidly-obese man to Basildon hospital with dignity and without causing damage to the structure of the housing association owned flats.

One man was trapped by his injuries and crews used two sets of specialist cutting equipment to release him by 10:55hrs, the casualty was placed in the care of the ambulance service. He was taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.
The collision occured on the A128 between Bulphan and Orsett. One casualty is trapped in a car. At 06:40 hrs crews reported that the casualty remained trapped and that they are using specialist cutting equipment to free the casualty.
The incident happened in North Stifford last night (Sunday). Two casualties were medically trapped and a third was physically trapped.
