Auctioneers Warwick and Warwick are holding a valuation day at Park Inn Radisson, High Road, North Stifford where they will be offering valuations and general advice.

The company has experts in coins and banknotes, stamps, medals and militaria, postcards and cigarette cards and model railways.

The event will be on Wednesday, February 13, from 9am to 2pm.

A company spokesman said: “Many people do not realise that they have possessions of value, especially postcard collections, where the black and white real photographic views, such as that illustrated can fetch from £5 to £50 pounds each, especially if there is a close up an early omnibus or a traction engine.

“Coin collections are also fetching high prices at present, especially those made of gold, the value of which has rocketed in recent months.”

The cycle was a distance of 33 miles which the fantastic four seemed to do very easily as they traversed the roads of Essex.

They cycled through South Ockendon before heading out towards Brentwood, through to Chipping Ongar and the country lanes of Matching Green, Hatfield Heath and then to Stansted.

The four members of staff were: Steven Plumb, Maintenance team, Lewis Withrington, F&B Supervisor, Reece Cross, F&B Supervisor and Mitchell Howley, F&B team member.

The leg was part of a relay that saw staff cycle from Aberdeen to Southend. They were hoping to raise over £30,000.

The group from the Park Inn are joining forces with team members from 31 other Park Inn by Radisson and Radisson Blu hotels across the UK to take on the tough physical challenge in the hope of raising a total of over £30,000 for worthy causes along the way.

The 15-day relay will arrive in Thurrock on the evening of the 19th May and depart early on the 20th May with the dedicated team members from the Park Inn by Radisson Thurrock accompanying the baton all the way to Stansted, cycling over 33 miles in the process.

Alistair Campbell, General Manager of the Park Inn said: “We are proud to be a part of this event, The boys have been training hard and although it’s tough and we have a long way to go, we are really looking forward to the challenge and hope to raise some vital funds for our chosen charity – St. Luke’s Hospice, Basildon.

St. Luke’s Hospice (Registered Charity No. 289466) give support to people with an advanced illness, and those who care for them, with no charge being made for services provided. The charity serves the districts of Thurrock and Basildon, and was started in 1983 as a community project and is only sustained by the community today through contributions and fundraising from individuals, clubs, local businesses and organisations.

Throughout the charity cycle relay, the team are being supported by a number of local and national sponsors, including master sponsor Bibendum, along with: ALD, Adavid, Birtwistles, Bluebell, Coca Cola, Hobart, Matthew Clarke, MRP, Perry Scott Nash, Positive Safety Training, Reynolds and Tudor.

Prospective brides flocked in to see the wide variety of services available for the big day.

The main dining area looked resplendent as the ambience of the Grade 2 Listed country house gave couples the full idea of how their special day would look.

YT spoke to weddings co-ordinator, Katherine Harding about what is on offer at the Park Inn and how they help each couple plan their perfect day.

The hotel’s stunning reception area, oak panelled library and lounge, have been overhauled with new decor and soft furnishings; creating a modern, eclectic feel, whilst retaining all of the original charm and features of the 18th century manor house.

The Terrace room, a flexible space ideal as a private dining venue, or boardroom has been fully refurbished. Offering floor to ceiling windows overlooking the hotel’s stunning lawns, The Terrace’s full overhaul includes: new furniture, carpets, lighting, decor and soft furnishings, creating a modern yet elegant space for parties and meetings for up to 30 people.

To further enhance the hotel’s wedding offering, both the Blenheim Suite and Garden Suite have also been fully refurbished. The Blenheim Suite has undergone a transformation with a mix of subtle tones and dark fabrics, creating an elegant space. Meanwhile, the Garden Suite, which opens out onto the garden patio, boasts lighter toned fabrics and a fresh look and feel.

Additionally, all 11 meeting rooms have been redecorated and state-of-the-art flat screen TVs have been added.

The Park Inn by Radisson, Thurrock is an elegant, converted Georgian manor house set in six acres of landscaped gardens. But Neil pulled it off. A fantastic night was had by one and all at the Park Inn, North Stifford as Phil Cavill entertained a sizable crowd who had gathered to help out one of the best causes in the borough.

Over £600 was raised on the night.

Special mention goes to Thurrock music teacher, Shana Elliot-Hayers who stepped in at the last minute and performed wonderfully.

This conference marks the launch of the recruitment side of their business, that links their clients, professional mothers with children under 12 years old looking to return to work with leading employers, because to these women ‘parenting comes first.’

With tough market conditions and limited resources, employers now recognise the importance of experience and maturity in the workplace.

Claire Adekola is founder of the company and through her business and voluntary work has built strong links within the Thurrock community, particuarly with mothers. Well, Caroline Thomas from Sales Scene knows exactly how you feel and so organised a Thurrock Jelly: an event where individuals can come together to discuss, brainstorm and develop new alliances.

YT has noted with interest the number of people who have cropped up in the borough proclaiming to be “Social Media” experts. We suspect they got the title out of a christmas cracker! Caroline however, is the real mccoy, and with years of experience in sales can help you traverse a number of rocky marketing paths.

On a lovely spring afternoon, we took our YT cameras to the Park Inn to see what was on offer this year. It never fails to surprise us as to the great variety of services and special touches that are provided to make the perfect day for the happy couple.

Whilst reporting at the Park Inn’s Wedding Fayre last weekend, we couldn’t help but notice the amazingly magical talents of up and coming magician, Dan Farrant.

Throughout the day Dan spent hours entertaining the guests turning packs of cards into glass, disappearing rabbits, reappearing cards, as well as performing all sorts of other mind boggling tricks.

Whilst Dan was adamant he never attended Hogwarts, we are pretty certain he did. Dan’s magical talent was out of this world and we are sure his powers would boggle the likes of Lord Voldemort given the chance.

Aside from Hogwarts and the unnecessary (yet unavoidable) magic puns, Dan Farrant is a brilliant magician and we truly recommend him for any up and coming events you may be organising.
