IF board meetings at the beleaguered Basildon Hospital were not interesting before then they soon will be as three of Thurrocks more vocal residents have been elected onto the board at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital.
The three are: Former headteacher, winner of a Civic Award in 2009 and a committed fundraiser to the hospital. Wayne Whiskerd. Journalist with the Yellow Advertiser and another former winner of a Civic Award, Paul Peterson and deputy leader of the Thurrock Conservative group, cllr Amanda Arnold.
Cllr Arnold said: “I am incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support and am looking forward to taking up this position alongside Paul Peterson and Wayne Whiskerd.
“It is important that Thurrock has the ability to influence a service that is so vital to its residents , and the number of people who put themselves forward for election is an indication of the strength of feeling around the hospital. I hope that as new Governors, the three of us will collectively provide a strong voice for Thurrock at BTUH”.
