Teen critical after five in horror smash in Horndon

Police have appealed for witnesses after five young men were injured, one critically, when a car collided with a tree at Horndon-on-the-Hill.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Horndon Road, at 10.49pm last night (Friday).

The five casualties, all from Horndon, were travelling in a silver Ford Fiesta. No other vehicles were believed to have been involved in the incident.

All five were taken to Basildon Hospital. A 19-year-old man was said this morning to be ‘critical but stable’. Two other 19 year-olds were detained with serious injuries and an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old were released overnight after treatment.
