In the UK, one person in seven has a health problem that affects their lungs and their breathing.
If you, or somebody you know, has a lung condition such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, bronchiectasis or sleep apnoea, Basildon University Hospital is hosting a Breathe Easy open day where advice and information is on hand.
Tuesday 20th September 2011, drop in any time between 3 – 6 pm
Basildon University Hospital
Among the teams present, respiratory specialists from the hospital and from NHS South West Essex will be available to answer your questions, alongside physiotherapists, smoking cessation advisors and medical technology companies.
There will be information about inhalers, spacers, nebulisers and oxygen, as well as the chance for you to test your lungs, participate in relaxation sessions and pick up details of local support groups and organisations.
Jacqueline Creasey, Respiratory Nurse Specialist, said “Many people with breathing or sleep problems are not aware that there are simple things that can be changed to improve their day-to-day life, such as exercise, staying active, using their medication effectively or where to get support to stop smoking or make lifestyle changes.
“We hold this event each year, supported by the British Lung Foundation, to provide advice and information for people with breathing problems, to help them manage their condition more effectively, stay well and prevent deterioration in their lung disease.”
