THE next meeting of the Board of Governors will be held on Wednesday 23 November 2011, in the Education Centre, Basildon University Hospital, at 6pm. All Board of Governors meetings are held in public and local people are welcome to attend and observe first hand their governors at work.
The Board of Governors has 27 public governors who represent Thurrock, Basildon, Brentwood and the rest of England. There are also nine staff governors and 14 appointed governors from partner organisations. Our governors play an important part in providing impartial and considered observations on the running of the Trust, while also acting as a voice of the views, concerns and aspirations of the community and overseeing the plans and performance of Basildon and Orsett Hospitals.
Public Governors are elected by the public members of the NHS Foundation Trust. Anyone residing in England (over the age of 12) can become a member, and vote in the elections. Members over the age of 16 can apply to become a governor. Members receive a regular newsletter and can participate in surveys, focus groups and meetings.
For more details about the meeting or about becoming a member, phone the Membership Office on 01268 598975 or visit our website: www.basildonandthurrock.nhs.uk and go to the Members section.
