Basildon and Orsett hospitals champion flu jabs

MORE than 2,000 staff at Basildon and Orsett Hospitals have done their bit to help fight flu in the first two weeks of the Trust’s immunisation campaign.

Seasonal flu can be a nasty bug and so it’s important that doctors, nurses, ward clerks, reception staff, porters – basically all hospital staff who come into contact with patients and visitors, protect themselves, their patients and loved ones from the spread of infection.

In addition to flu clinics in general areas within the hospital and at Occupational Health, we use flu champions, who are members of staff who are trained to administer the flu jab to their colleagues. Not only do the champions raise awareness of the importance to have the flu vaccination, they can run vaccination sessions on their wards at convenient times for staff.

Last year the Trust was one of the of the top flu fighter performers for the East of England and this year we are hoping to beat it.
