A MAN who was found collapsed and injured on a road in Grays has since died in hospital.
A section of Hathaway Road had to be closed by police following the discovery of the man by a passer-by shortly before 3am on Thursday, March 20.
Paramedics took him to Basildon University Hospital as he had sustained a serious head injury. Detectives carried out a series of enquiries in order to ascertain whether he has been subjected to an assault. The road was reopened at 7pm later that day.
On Saturday, March 22, the man died in hospital. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will now be prepared for HM Coroner ahead of an inquest which will take place in due course. It is believed the man suffered from long-term illness.
