A MAN has been taken to hospital after falling from a barge in Tilbury.
The man was pulled out of water by friends after falling while trying to board a narrow boat in the docks.
The ambulance service was called just before 8am this morning (Monday 12th) dispatching a rapid response team, ambulance, paramedic officer and the hazardous area response team (HART).
Paramedic Officer Neil Galaud, who attended the incident said: “We treated a man in his 50s who suffered a lower back injury and he was taken to Basildon Hospital for further assessment.
“We’d also like to thank the port authority who were helpful throughout the incident.
“Thankfully his condition wasn’t thought to be life threatening but it does highlight the need to take necessary precautions when near water.”
