SANTA’S helpers visited Basildon University Hospital in the form of representatives from Asda supermarket to hand out mince pies, presents and festive cheer.
Patients and staff were thrilled to see Danielle Graham from the Tilbury store, Tina Williams from the Pipps Hill, Basildon store and Paula Howard from the Eastgate, Basildon store.
Their trolley full of goodies had mince pies and festive biscuits for patients on our adult wards, and presents for our younger patients on the children’s wards.
Paula said: “Everything we have brought with us today has been kindly donated by our colleagues and our very generous customers.”
Joanne Fear, volunteer coordinator, who accompanied the dressed-up Asda staff on their ward rounds, said: “Asda are very kind to us, every Christmas they donate food and gifts and we’re always incredibly grateful. The reaction from patients and staff is great and it really does lift everyone’s spirits.”
