INTU Lakeside has just announced Witham based children’s charity, Brainwave, as its 2016 charity of the year.
Throughout the year the centre will be raising an amazing £25,000 to sponsor seven of the charity’s children in order to help make a real difference to their lives.
Brainwave is committed to helping children with disabilities reach their full potential and achieve milestones that would otherwise seem impossible. At the charity’s specialist centre in Witham, children are assessed by a dedicated team of experts before being given a personalised programme of exercises and equipment to help them become the very best that they can be.
Over the course of 2016, intu Lakeside will become a guardian to seven extremely deserving children from Essex and Kent ranging from the ages of 12 months to seven years. The support from intu Lakeside will have an incredible impact on these young children’s lives and it’s sure to be a gift that their families will never forget.
The seven children that will be sponsored are:
Six year old Lily from Colchester, who has Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum and visual impairment
Five year old Harry from Braintree, who has global developmental delay, Mitochondrial disease and epilepsy
Four year old Emilia from Upminster, who has Down’s syndrome
Six year old Lily-May from Tonbridge, who does not have a diagnosis but presents with sensory processing difficulties, poor attention and concentration
Seven year old Rosie from Dagenham, who has global development delay and mild scoliosis
12 month old Kelly from Canvey Island, who has Periventricular Leukomalacia
16 month old Ellie from Northfleet, who has Chromosomal deletion
Olly Murs, Patron of Brainwave, commented: "intu Lakeside is aiming to raise an incredible £25,000 which will make a real difference to these children. Brainwave is located in Witham, Essex, which is just down the road from where I was born, so it is a cause which is very close to my heart. The charity helps children with disabilities and additional needs to reach their full potential whilst giving the parents the tools that they need to help their children as well."
intu Lakeside’s staff and retailers will be fundraising through events and personal challenges to reach the £25,000 target and the centre is encouraging its customers to get in on the action too. Whether this is at an event, a donation in centre or some fundraising of your own, every penny counts. Donna Callander, Marketing Manager at intu Lakeside, says: "We are delighted to be supporting Brainwave throughout 2016 and cannot wait to see the impact that our donation has on the young children. After such a successful charity campaign in 2015 we have no doubt that our wonderful staff and shoppers will be keen to get involved with supporting another local charity."
