BASILDON and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTUH) is delighted to announce the appointment of Steve McManus to the new role of managing director.
Steve joins BTUH as interim managing director, for an initial six month period, from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust where he has worked for three-and-a-half years as the chief operating officer and deputy chief executive.
Steve will support the Trust’s executive directors and chief executive Clare Panniker. Clare was recently appointed as lead chief executive of an overarching committee which will steer collaboration between BTUH, Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust as part of the Mid and South Essex Success Regime.
Steve has worked in the NHS since beginning his career as a registered nurse in 1987.
During his time at Imperial, Steve has led a number of major projects including establishing the clinical divisional structure, turning around cancer care performance, and leading the Trust’s implementation of service reorganisation for north west London.
Steve said: “I am delighted to be joining BTUH as we look to continue to deliver, and improve, the high quality services we have worked so hard to establish in recent years.
“It is a challenging but exciting time for the NHS in mid and south Essex as health and social care providers work together as part of the Success Regime. I am looking forward to supporting the excellent staff at BTUH to make the most of the opportunities we have to improve care for our patients.”
Clare Panniker, BTUH, chief executive, said: “I look forward to working closely with Steve and have no doubt that he will be a tremendous appointment for us as we rise to the challenges ahead.”
