Warning for Thurrock residents over Junior Doctors strike on Wednesday

JUNIOR doctors in England will be going on strike for 48 hours on Wednesday 06 April and disruptions are expected to affect services at Basildon Hospital.

The strike will begin at 8am on Wednesday 06 April and end at 8am on Friday 08 April but it will not affect emergency care.

Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTUH) expects to run emergency services and urgent care, such as cardiac, maternity and dialysis. However, there is likely to be some impact to simple inpatient elective procedures and some outpatient clinics.

For non-emergencies, patients can call NHS 111, where they will receive advice and triaging, or alternatively they can attend Orsett Minor Injuries Unit. See contact details below:

Orsett Minor Injuries Unit

Address: Orsett MIU, Orsett Hospital, Rowley Road, Orsett, Grays, RM16 3EU

Some appointments at Basildon Hospital may have been cancelled due to the strike. If there were any changes to your appointment, the hospital would have contacted you to reschedule. If you have not been contacted, please assume your appointment remains unchanged.
