A SENIOR Thurrock Labour councillor has said he has grave concerns over possible plans to turn away Thurrock residents from the Accident and Emergency Department at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital.
Cllr Oliver Gerrish asked a number of questions after the portfolio holder for health, cllr James Halden had presented the Annual Report for the Director of Public Health.
As reported on Tuesday, the report states that “83% of all A and E attendances needed no medical investigation or treatment.”
The report went onto suggest that one way to reduce avoidable A and E attendances was to “refuse entry” at the “front door of A and E”.
